Cognac for Beginners
Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM (PST)
San Francisco, CA
The Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail welcomes Steve Olson, Andy Seymour, and Leo DeGroff of Beverage Alcohol Resource as we explore the illustrious history and heritage of one of the world’s most respected spirits, Cognac. We’ll taste this noble spirit and experience the differences between the styles and classifications, and explore the geography, regions, soils, and climate. Become a Cognac connoisseur as we unravel this complex spirit making it easy to understand. Come learn about (and taste!) some of the most influential, historically important, and delicious Cognac cocktails, as well as modern interpretations that demonstrate the many ways to enjoy Cognac in cocktails.
The Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail™ is a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation co-founded by San Francisco bartenders with the purpose of preserving the cultural heritage of saloons and their cocktails in San Francisco, while also preserving California’s culinary philosophy and tradition via special public events, publications and educational seminars. The Conservancy exists to bring together all interested people, whether in the professional beverage trades or interested in beverages on a personal or casual level, to discuss, debate, create, enjoy, compare and contrast the past, present and future of beverage culture in the San Francisco Bay Area.
